How do I download my Strava archive?

Strava lets you download everything you have ever recorded as one zip file. That file is what you contribute - we never ask for your Strava password and we never connect to your account.

  1. 1

Open Strava settings on the web

On strava.com, click your profile picture (top right) → Settings → My Account. The archive can only be requested from the website, not the app.

  2. 2

Find "Download or Delete Your Account"

Under "Download or Delete Your Account", click Get Started. You are only downloading - nothing on this page deletes anything unless you ask it to.

  3. 3

    Request your archive

In step 1, "Download Request (optional)", click Request Your Archive. Strava emails a link when the zip is ready - usually within an hour, sometimes a day for a long history.

  4. 4

    Download the zip

Open the email from Strava and download the file. It is named export_<number>.zip and contains activities.csv plus a folder of your activity files. Keep it zipped.

  5. 5

    Contribute it

Come back to Cyclists.com, choose Contribute my rides, and drop the zip in. Your browser reads the list of activities first so you can see and choose what to contribute before anything is uploaded.

What is in the archive, and what we use

The zip holds a spreadsheet of your activities and one GPS file per activity, plus any photos you attached and some account files. We read the activity list and the GPS files for the rides you choose. Heart rate, power, cadence and timestamps inside those files are dropped when the route is created. Photos are only used if you decide to attach them to a route. Account files, messages and everything else are ignored, and the original zip is deleted after processing.

Not a Strava user? GPX, FIT and TCX files work just as well.
