Dijon sits at the northern end of a line of villages that cyclists follow south, and the main route from the city is a 71.2 km point-to-point to Givry with only 234 m of climbing. It leaves through Marsannay-la-Côte and Couchey, then strings together Fixey, Fixin, Brochon and Gevrey-Chambertin before continuing past Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée to Nuits-Saint-Georges. South of Nuits-Saint-Georges the road passes Premeaux, Prissey, Comblanchien and Corgoloin, then Ladoix-Serrigny and Chorey-les-Beaune on the way into Beaune. From there it drops through Bligny-lès-Beaune, Tailly and Demigny, reaches Lessard-le-National, Virey-le-Grand and Fragnes, and crosses Champforgeuil into Chalon-sur-Saône. The final section runs by Saint-Rémy and Vessey to Givry, with Cortiambles and Sauge beyond. It is a route better suited to steady distance riding than to hill work.
