The ride starts in Le Vigan at 235 m and immediately begins climbing for 5.3 km gaining 326 m at an average gradient of 6.2%, reaching 561 m. The route passes through Aulas at 2.5 km, Gaujac at 3.6 km, and Mas Fadat at 6.5 km. After a brief descent of 2 km after 5.4 km, the route continues to climb from La Peyre at 7.5 km over 12 km with an average gradient of 7.2%, reaching the top at 1354 m near 19.5 km. This steeper section includes gradients up to 12.5% and passes Mandagout at 7.9 km and Les Combes at 9 km.
Almost all the route is on paved minor roads (94%) with about 4% on a quiet street and a very short 2% on unpaved surface. It follows named roads D 329 for 11.4 km and D 170 for 5.4 km. Facilities such as cafés, shops, and water are mostly only at the start and at km 7.9; from Mandagout onwards, there is an 11.6 km stretch without cafés, shops, or water. The longest descent is 2 km long with a 58 m drop, and the steepest 500 m segment is 19.7% right at the start.
