Route overview

At 35.6 km with only 86 m of climbing, this suits riders of any level, including those on a first road outing or a one-way trip into the city.

A flat 35.6 km point-to-point across the Languedoc plain from Aimargues to Montpellier, with just 86 m of climbing.

The route starts at Aimargues, at the low point of the day at 9 m, and heads west past the hamlet of La Garrigue. The first few kilometres pass a handful of roadside restaurants and skirt the small rise of Pioch Ferra (28 m) at km 4.8 before reaching Lunel at km 6.7. From there it is village-to-village riding across the plain: Lunel-Viel at km 10.3, then the hamlets of Mas des Caves and Les Parpayols, Valergues at km 12.7 and Lansargues at km 13.4. Saint-Brès and Mudaison come together around km 15.5, followed by Mauguio at km 19.8 and the hamlets of Mézouls and Les Garrigues just after. Only 23% of the total climbing falls in the first half, so the gentle rise towards the city comes late: the high point of the whole route is a modest 53 m at km 26.5. The run-in is urban. Port Marianne arrives at km 27.4 with a dense cluster of cafés and restaurants and several drinking water points, then the centre of Montpellier at km 31.6, Prés d'Arènes at km 33 and Croix d'Argent at km 35.2 to finish.
