The route starts near Atalaia (0.9 km) and passes through a series of small places including Santa Bárbara, Ribamar, and Maceira before reaching Porto Novo at 10.3 km. It then continues through Póvoa de Penafirme, Boavista, and Casalinhos de Alfaiata, climbing steadily to a high point near 36 km. The first significant climb spans 2.3 km starting at 31.8 km with a gain of 77 m at an average 3.3% and max 5.8% gradient.
