Starting in Jumeirah Park, the route heads through Al Thanyah 1 and Al Sufouh 1 before passing various Umm Suqeim districts and Jumeirah 3. The course continues towards Business Bay and the Burj Khalifa area around 20-21.5 km, then proceeds through Trade Centre districts, Al Satwa, Al Bada'a, and Al Safa 1 near 31 km. The route returns to Trade Centre area before passing Al Wasl, Jumeirah 2 and 3, and Jumeirah Island 2.
