Route overview

Suits riders after a long but almost flat day: 70.9 km with only 128 m of climbing.

A flat 70.9 km loop from Nazwa in the Hajar Mountains foothills, linking Al Dafain, Al Fayah and Mahafiz with just 128 m of climbing.

The loop leaves Nazwa and drifts gently upwards over the opening 10 km, reaching the route's high point of 176 m at 10.8 km. Half of the day's modest 128 m of climbing is done by the midpoint, and none of it comes in a sustained pitch: the profile stays within a 56 m band from start to finish. A cafeteria sits beside the road at 11.9 km, the first of only two service points on the loop. Al Dafain arrives at 28 km, with drinking water available just before the town at 27.9 km. From there the route runs on to the village of Al Fayah at 39.2 km, then continues to Mahafiz at 52.4 km, close to the lowest ground on the ride at 120 m, reached at 52.7 km. The final 18 km turn back towards Nazwa, passing beneath the 200 m bulk of Qarn Nazwa at 70.7 km before the loop closes in the town at 69.8 km.
