Climbs are significant, including the Innertkirchen climb (27 km with 1533 m gain), Vogelsang (22 km, 1487 m), Great St Bernard (23 km, 1471 m), Brig (18 km, 1362 m), and Bex (18 km, 1340 m).
The country’s high-altitude climbs extend also to Chilchhorn (14 km, 1127 m), Plan-Cerisier (10 km, 1038 m), and Aigle (18 km, 1025 m). Climbing difficulty is considerable, with all routes involving at least 567 m of elevation gain. Weather averages show daily highs ranging from 4°C in January to 24°C in July. The best months to cycle, according to riding scores, are from May through October, with peak months from June to September.
